Job summary

Practice Plus Group's Health in Justice team is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join the Primary Care team at HMP Foston Hall, a women’s closed prison in Foston, Derbyshire.

This full-time role involves rotating day and night shifts with a salary up to £29,723 per year, plus development opportunities. You will deliver patient care, support clinics, assist with triage and venepuncture in a secure setting.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care or Care Certificate.
• Experience in phlebotomy is desirable.
• Clinical care experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in healthcare and wings of the prison.
• Facilitate clinics including bloods, observations, ECGs and checks.
• Assist with implementing clinical care packages.
• Support nursing team with all aspects of care.
• Act as a second checker in pharmacy when required.
• Assist receptions and triage new patients.

About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team at HMP Foston Hall a women's closed prison in Foston, Derbyshire.

We are recruiting for a Healthcare Assistant to support the wider healthcare team.

Salary

This is a full time position and you will receive a salary of up to £29,723 per annum

Hours

This role involves working a rotational pattern of day and night shifts.

Day Shifts: 07:00 - 20:00

Night Shifts: 19:45 - 07:15

The post requires flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays, and both day and night shifts as part of a 24/7 healthcare service within the prison.

What you'll be doing

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

• Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
• Facilitate clinics, including bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
• Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages
• Support the nursing team with all aspects of care
• Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
• Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients

Our new Healthcare Assistant will

• Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
• Have experience within phlebotomy - this is highly desirable!
• Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
• Have clinical experience - venepuncture, ECGs etc
• Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
