Job summary

Priory is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join a compassionate team focused on patient wellbeing. You will support assessment and implementation of care plans, assist qualified staff, and carry out routine tasks to promote dignity and wellbeing.

You will help with intimate personal needs, monitor patient wellbeing, and follow infection control policies. Excellent English and a caring attitude are essential; healthcare qualifications are desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs in line with procedures.
• Observes and monitors patient wellbeing, referring unusual events to senior staff and documenting appropriately.
• Performs delegated interventions with Registered Nurse support, including observation, engagement and escort duties.
• Contributes to team-based patient care with multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Participates in ward meetings and other requested meetings.
• Assists in stocking pharmaceutical products and maintaining ward cleanliness.
• Maintains professional relationships with patients, colleagues, and visitors, responding to requests courteously.
• Supports environment that meets patient and family needs and ensures value for services.

Pay Rate: £26,800 (plus £1000 welcome bonus)

Full-time & part-time (min 2 shifts/week) with alternate weekends.

Permanent Night shift option– full time or part time also available

Full time shifts:(Week 1) Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat , Sun (Week 2) Wed, Thurs

8am- 8.15pm Days /8pm- 8.15am Nights

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

• Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
• Observes and monitors the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
• Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, and following training and competency attainment. Such interventions include Observation and Engagement with Patients, escorting patients on leave, and being involved in de‑escalation and management of violence and aggression.
• Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in regular ward meetings and attend other meetings as requested.
• To assist in the maintenance of stock levels, including pharmaceutical products.
• To assist in the maintenance of ward cleanliness and tidiness and adhere to infection control policy and procedures at all times.
• Develops and maintains a good professional relationship with patients, colleagues and visitors responding promptly and courteously to requests and enquiries.
• Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient / relatives and carers.
• Ensure service users are gaining a quality service that is value for their money.
• To receive and convey information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner and ensure all persons visiting the ward are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner.
