Job summary

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is offering a Senior Healthcare Apprentice role at Royal Preston Hospital/Chorley & South Ribble Hospital. You will train under a nurse in charge while delivering essential patient care and learning a range of clinical duties alongside your studies.

You will perform personal care tasks, assist with clinical procedures under supervision, and support ward operations to maintain a safe, clean environment and effective administrative processes.

Qualifications

• Previous experience of working in a health care setting.
• Understanding of concept and application of confidentiality.
• Understanding of health and safety issues within healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with local and national standards.
• Take samples from patients for testing or dispatching (e.g., urine, sputum, faeces, MRSA swabs, blood sugars).
• Assist patients to meet nutritional needs in line with their care plan.
• Undertake clinical duties relevant to the area following achievement of competencies.
• Maintain patient safety and comply with health, safety and security policies.
