Job summary

Wirral Metropolitan College is seeking a Health Science Lecturer (Biology) to join our team in Birkenhead. This full-time, permanent role is 35 hours per week with a salary of £31,410 to £43,440 per annum.

You will deliver formal teaching, support learners, design schemes of work, assess and feedback, and contribute to programme leadership within the college's FE environment. The college offers excellent facilities, enhanced annual leave and CPD, plus a strong pension and parking.

Qualifications

• Need a degree in biology or equivalent.
• Full teaching qualification or working towards is desirable.
• Experience delivering education in Further Education (FE).
• Able to evidence successful teaching, training or assessing groups of students.
• Sound grasp of relevant teaching strategies and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Carry out formal scheduled teaching.

Job Purpose/Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out formal scheduled teaching.
• Undertake a personal tutor and/or programme leader role to groups of students to maintain high achievement rates.
• Prepare schemes of work, session plans and learning materials.
• Carry out student assessments and mark students’ work and examinations and provide feedback to students and set targets for improvement.
• Carry out internal quality assurance.
• Work as part of the team in the monitoring, reviewing and evaluation of all aspects of the programmes.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Level 2 or above English/literacy qualifications.
• Level 2 or above Maths/numeracy qualifications.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in biology or science.
• Recognised full teaching qualification or be working towards.
• Have experience of working within FE.
• Able to evidence successful experience of teaching, training or assessing groups of students.
• Sound grasp of relevant teaching strategies and techniques.
