Job summary

RG Setsquare is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join on a permanent basis in the United Kingdom. The role supports the Estates & Facilities team, ensuring safety compliance, database accuracy, and contractor oversight in a fast-paced environment.

You will assist with Legionella control, chemical inventories, COSHH assessments, and safety data management, while deputising for the Health & Safety / Risk Manager as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support the Estates & Facilities Team with training records, facilities maintenance and contractor information.
• Track and record works under the Permit-to-Work system on site.
• Assist the Legionella management programme by monitoring tasks and updating databases.
• Manage chemical inventories, safety data sheets and COSHH assessments.
• Help Maintenance Supervisors with plant room and engineering area management, including purchasing safety equipment.
• Record Safety Performance Indicators and KPIs data for management review.
• Organise and take minutes in team meetings and assist with audits.
• Share observations to improve safety standards across the EMS department.
• deputise for Health & Safety / Risk Manager at meetings when required.

Job description

Our longstanding client now has an excellent opportunity for a H&S Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. The company are fast growing and this position will be a fast paced role to meet their business needs.

Day to Day Role

1. Support the Estates & Facilities Team in maintaining databases and company systems including those used for management of; training records; facilities maintenance and contractor information; and quality and compliance/risk documentation.
2. Provide central support for contractor activities on site for Estates and other departments by ensuring all works are tracked and recorded under Permit-to-Work system.
3. Support the site Legionella management programme, ensuring monitoring tasks are completed and associated databases are updated.
4. Support management of chemical inventories, safety data sheets and COSHH assessments for chemicals used by the team.
5. Support the Maintenance Supervisors in management of plant room and engineering areas, including purchasing and placing of safety equipment, signage, and materials required.
6. Provide support for managers in collation and recording of Safety Performance Indicators and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) metrics.
7. Organise and take minutes in team meetings where required.
8. Participate in and support internal and external inspection and audit programmes coordinated by the department.
9. Collate and share suggestions and observations with Health & Safety / Risk Manager to create consistency in safety standards throughout the EMS department and the company.
10. Deputise for the Health & Safety / Risk Manager at facility Process Safety Meetings and/or Health & Safety Committee meetings where required.
