Job summary

Vickerstock, in partnership with a leading specialist engineering firm, seeks a Health, Safety & Environmental Officer to promote a positive safety culture across manufacturing, assembly and project operations. You will develop safe systems, support site teams, lead incidents, and drive continuous improvement in a technically complex environment.

The role requires NEBOSH or equivalent, ISO/OSH knowledge, and the ability to travel between sites with a valid UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • HSE experience in manufacturing, engineering, construction, or M&E.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of HSE legislation and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience carrying out HSE audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Experience developing RAMS and safe systems of work.
  • Full UK driving licence with travel between sites.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain HSE policies and systems in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and relevant frameworks.
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and audits with implementation of controls.
  • Provide day-to-day HSE support across multiple locations.
  • Lead incident investigations and drive preventive actions.
  • Promote behavioural safety and drive continuous improvement.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, training sessions and inductions.
  • Monitor HSE data and produce regular reports and identify trends.
  • Act as main point of contact for Health, Safety and Environmental matters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed a proactive safety culture.

Job description

Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading specialist engineering firm on the appointment of a Health, Safety & Environmental Officer.

As HSE Officer, you will support manufacturing, assembly and project operations, working closely with fabrication, office and site teams to promote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation. You will play a key role in developing safe systems of work, supporting operational teams and driving continuous improvement across a busy and technically complex business.

In your new role:
  • Develop and maintain HSE policies, procedures and systems in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and relevant legislative frameworks
  • Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and audits, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective control measures
  • Provide day-to-day HSE support to teams across multiple locations, ensuring site and operational compliance with internal and external standards
  • Lead and manage incident investigations, reporting findings and driving preventive actions
  • Promote behavioural safety and contribute to continuous improvement across all areas of the business
  • Deliver toolbox talks, training sessions and inductions to employees and contractors
  • Monitor and analyse HSE data, producing regular reports and identifying trends
  • Act as a key point of contact for all Health, Safety and Environmental matters across the business
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to embed a proactive and positive safety culture
What you will need to succeed:
  • Experience in an HSE role within a Manufacturing, Engineering, Construction or M&E environment
  • Relevant Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of current HSE legislation and compliance frameworks
  • Experience carrying out HSE audits, inspections and incident investigations
  • Experience developing or reviewing RAMS and implementing safe systems of work
  • Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel between sites as required
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don't worry if you don't):
  • IOSH membership
  • NEBOSH Diploma
  • ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 knowledge, with Internal Auditor qualification desirable
  • Train the Trainer qualification or experience delivering internal HSE training
