Job summary

GXO Logistics in the United Kingdom is recruiting a QHSE Manager to lead the on-site QSHE and Facilities teams at Thorncliffe. You will drive health, safety and environmental performance, ensure legal compliance and foster a strong safety-first culture across the site.

Reporting to the General Manager with a dotted line to Regional EHS, you will shape policies, oversee risk assessments, incident investigations and audits, and coach colleagues to build capability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety is essential.
  • Proven experience leading QHSE activity within a warehouse, distribution or automated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation and audit requirements.
  • Confident stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and customers.
  • Experience managing and developing teams, with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Strong analytical, reporting and presentation skills.

  • Lead, drive and continually improve the QSHE culture, champion safety philosophy to create a best-in-class safety culture.
  • Drive a strong, visible safety culture where everyone takes ownership of safety and wellbeing.
  • Develop, implement and maintain site safety policies, procedures and risk assessments.
  • Lead incident reporting and investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions embedded.
  • Chair safety committee meetings, manage site action plans and report performance to senior stakeholders.
  • Develop and coach the on site QHSE and Facilities teams, building capability and consistency.
  • Monitor, analyse and report safety performance metrics, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate audits, inspections, contractor safety and business continuity planning.

Job description

Are you a confident QHSE leader who thrives in complex, highly automated environments? Do you enjoy influencing at all levels and building a culture where everyone owns safety and wellbeing? Ready to take accountability for health, safety and environmental performance at a national distribution centre?

GXO is currently recruiting a QHSE Manager to join our M&S site in Thorncliffe. This is a senior, site based leadership role within a large, automated distribution centre, where you'll take full responsibility for all thing's health and safety at site and help push our road to zero campaign. Reporting to the General Manager, with a dotted line into Regional EHS, you'll lead the on site QHSE and Facilities teams, working closely with GXO central functions and the customer to ensure legal compliance, continuous improvement and a strong safety first culture.

This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis, working Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 or 09:00 to 17:00, with flexibility required to support the operation - this is logistics after all.

What you'll do on a typical day:
