Job description

What Are We Looking For?

Our HSE department is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to join our team on a permanent basis. The role can be based in Cumbernauld, Edinburgh, or Dalgety Bay, supporting our Chemical & Biological team across Scotland. The successful candidate will ensure all RSE company activities comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation and that all personnel are protected from avoidable risks.

Please note that due to the nature of this role and the locations involved, travel across Scotland will be required.

Some of Your Key Duties Include:

  • Ensuring all activities comply with RSE’s Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental management systems.
  • Supporting compliance with CDM regulations, including assisting in the compilation of Construction Phase Plans.
  • Providing advice on QHSE issues within the Ross-shire engineering group as directed by the Health & Safety Manager.
  • Conducting QHSE inspections and audits at company premises and construction sites to ensure safe practices.
  • Preparing inspection and audit reports, highlighting issues, and communicating findings to relevant project and management personnel.
  • Assisting engineers and site managers with risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Producing COSHH assessments as required.
  • Maintaining effective communication and collaboration across departments.

What Do You Need?

  • NEBOSH General (Level 3) qualification or working towards it.
  • Practical experience in managing QHSE, with strong relationship-building skills with delivery teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Experience applying health and safety practices in manufacturing and construction environments; utilities experience is advantageous.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
