Job description

What Are We Looking For?

Our HSE department is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to join our team on a permanent basis, working from Cumbernauld, Edinburgh, or Dalgety Bay, servicing our Chemical & Biological team across Scotland. The role involves ensuring all RSE company activities comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation, and that all persons affected are not subjected to avoidable risks.

Please note, due to the nature of the role and location of works, travel across Scotland is required.

Some of Your Key Duties Include:

  1. Ensure activities comply with RSE’s Health and Safety, Quality, and Environmental management systems.
  2. Assist project teams in satisfying requirements under current CDM regulations, including compiling Construction Phase Plans.
  3. Provide support on QHSE issues to departments and individuals within the Ross-shire engineering group, under the guidance of the Health & Safety Manager.
  4. Conduct QHSE inspections and audits at company premises and construction sites to ensure safety compliance.
  5. Prepare inspection and audit reports, highlighting issues or non-conformance, and communicate findings to relevant personnel and management.
  6. Assist engineers and site managers with health & safety risk assessments and safe working practices.
  7. Produce COSHH assessments as needed.
  8. Maintain effective communication and liaison across all departments.

What Do You Need?

  1. NEBOSH General (Level 3) certification or working towards it.
  2. Practical knowledge of managing QHSE, with an emphasis on relationship building with delivery teams.
  3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
  5. Experience applying health & safety practices in manufacturing and construction environments; utilities experience is advantageous.
  6. Full UK Driving Licence.
