Job summary

Affinity Water is seeking a hands-on Health & Safety Advisor to promote safe, sustainable working practices across our Hatfield office and sites. You’ll support Zero Harm through practical guidance, site visits, investigations, and safety communications, travelling monthly to Folkestone as needed.

You’ll lead risk assessments, provide coaching, and drive training while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships and contributing to H&S policy development.

Qualifications

• Experience providing Health & Safety advice within an office environment, including DSE, wellbeing, stress and mental health.
• Experience carrying out incident investigations, risk assessments and workplace inspections, with the ability to turn findings into practical learning and improvements.
• Proven, hands-on experience working on live operational and/or construction sites.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
• Good technical understanding of construction, utilities, or engineering environments.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with front-line teams to identify hazards and challenge unsafe behaviours.
• Develop and improve safe ways of working, embedding safety at all stages of work.
• Build rapport with teams on site and act as a trusted advisor, influencing positive safety culture.
• Provide coaching and guidance to stakeholders on health and safety matters.
• Investigate significant incidents, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead incident reviews with key stakeholders.
• Support the development and review of risk assessments, method statements, and permits.
• Deliver training, awareness briefings, and health & safety initiatives.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of H&S policies, procedures, and practices.
