Working Hours: 40 hours per week

Excalon is a leading infrastructure contractor specialising in services to the utilities industry. With recent new business wins and ongoing major projects, this is an exciting time to join our team.

Purpose of the role:

Ensure the company meets health and safety standards through the implementation of the IMS, supporting the Head of SHEQ, and acting as Environmental and Carbon Lead to develop strategies for environmental impact and carbon reduction.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Full driver's license and willingness to travel nationwide

Key Responsibilities:

1. Act as escalation point for SHEQ matters in absence of Head of SHEQ
2. Develop and review Construction Phase Plans (CPPs)
3. Conduct H&S inspections and coordinate accident reporting
4. Monitor hazard reports and stay updated on legislation
5. Provide H&S advice, issue alerts, and ensure IMS compliance
6. Manage and mentor staff on safety practices
7. Lead environmental and carbon reduction initiatives, developing strategies and setting reduction goals
8. Conduct internal audits and support external accreditations
9. Review and update procedures, liaise with safety representatives

About You:

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

• Street works accreditation
• Knowledge of H&S legislation
• Safety planning and risk assessment skills
• IEMA Foundation Qualification and Associate Membership
• Confined spaces, utilities, and excavation safety knowledge
• NEBOSH General/Construction Certificate, IOSH

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

• Internal Auditor for OHSAS ISO45001
