Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority in Abingdon seeks a Health Physics Analytical Laboratory Technician to provide radionuclide and beryllium evaluation services within the Health Physics laboratory, ensuring safety and compliance with ISO 17025 UKAS accreditation.

You will support method validation, maintenance of equipment, PAS and Tritium in Water analysis, and contribute to LIMS data recording, with onsite work five days a week and flexible options where possible.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accredited laboratory to ISO 17025 or equivalent.
• Education to HNC level in a science discipline.
• Experience in method development or validation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate samples for Be by UV fluorescence and Tritium by LSC.
• Prepare and process Personal Air Sampler (PAS) and TWA to support UKAS ISO 17025 accreditation.
• Quality check of internal counting parameters and record results in the LIMS database.
• Maintain and verify laboratory equipment for fit-for-purpose operation.
• Provide support to Senior Technicians in method validation, modification and improvement.
• Carry out routine lab duties including record keeping, glassware cleaning, waste processing, and consumables monitoring.
