Job summary

AWE Plc is recruiting a Technologist for the Metals and Tritium Group, based at the RG7 4PR site near Reading and Basingstoke. The role involves preparing samples, analysing through a range of instrumentation, and contributing to SOP development to support nuclear-related programmes.

The successful candidate will have hands-on lab experience, competence with analytical equipment, and strong data interpretation skills, with IT proficiency and good communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in an analytical laboratory.
• Experience using, calibrating, commissioning, validating and maintaining analytical instrumentation.
• Ability to interpret complex chemical data and make sound technical judgements.
• Strong communication, both written and oral, with customers and stakeholders.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and coordinate multiple activities in a changing environment.
• Experience reviewing or assuring technical documentation and sampling plans.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples using wet chemistry techniques.
• Perform chemical analysis using a range of analytical techniques and instrumentation.
• Review and contribute to procedure and process development and compliance (SOPs, etc).
• Maintain, calibrate and run a range of analytical instrumentation.
• Process, interpret and report measurement data to required quality standards.
• Satisfy legislative, regulatory and stakeholder requirements.
• Assist in programme reviews, development, innovations and implementation.
• Adhere to Company EH&S and Quality Standards.
