Job summary

SkyCare in West Yorkshire is seeking healthcare assistants with UK-based experience to join our team and provide dementia-focused care to residents in our Nursing Homes. The role is full-time and permanent, with shifts of 33–44 hours per week and an hourly rate of £12.81.

Location includes Bradford & Leeds, with on-site facilities and ongoing training. Applicants must have UK work rights for 12 months and ideally hold NVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent; DBS can be provided.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home care with focus on mental health or developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, Schizophrenia care, memory care, and hospice support is desirable.
• Familiarity with patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
• Ability to lift heavy objects safely and operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts.
• Experience working with individuals with autism or other behavioral health conditions is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience in a similar role in the UK for at least 1 year in a Nursing Home.
• Flexibility in working hours and the ability to adapt to different healthcare settings.
• Right to work in the UK for at least 12-month without need of sponsorship.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Caring and compassionate

• Ability to follow care plans effectively,
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

• Relevant certifications such as an NVQ in Health and Social Care are desired

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with personal care such as washing and dressing.
• Assist residents with mobility and use of lifting equipment.
• Support eating, drinking, communication, and social activities.
• Complete documentation as requested by the manager or nurse.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment within the nursing home.
• Follow policies and guidelines of all staff members.
• Mentor new care assistants and ensure adherence to roles.
• Attend in-house and external training as required.
• Report any issues or changes in a resident's condition to the nurse in charge.

Duties will include but not limited to:

• Ø Assist residents with all aspects of personal care e.g. washing and dressing
• Ø Assist residents with mobility - including moving and handling equipment
• Ø Assist residents with eating and drinking, communication and joining in social activities
• Ø Complete all documentation as requested by the manager/nurse
• Ø Maintain a clean and safe environment within the nursing home
• Ø Ensure all policies and guidelines are followed by all staff members
• Ø Act as a mentor to all new care assistants and ensure they are working to their role
• Ø Attend all in house and external training as required
• Ø Report any issues or changes in a residents condition to the nurse in charge
