Job description

The Role:

As a Mental Health Complex Care Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting service users with both their physical health and mental well-being. Many of our service users present with complex conditions, mental health challenges and emotional distress. Your role will involve providing holistic care that prioritises dignity, safety, and emotional support, while also assisting with clinical and daily living needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide person-centered care tailored to both physical and mental health needs.
  • Assist with personal care in accordance with individual care plans.
  • Support service users with clinical requirements such as medication management, moving and handling, Tracheostomy Care, PEG Management, and ventilator support.
  • Implement de-escalation strategies and behavioral support techniques to manage challenging behaviors in a safe and compassionate manner.
  • Foster a supportive environment that promotes emotional well-being and mental resilience.
  • Work collaboratively with family members and the multidisciplinary team, including mental health professionals, to ensure holistic care.
  • Recognise early signs of distress, anxiety, or deterioration in mental health and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Monitor and document changes in physical and emotional well-being.
  • Ensure dignity, privacy, and independence are maintained at all times.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a care setting, particularly supporting individuals with complex care needs and/or mental health conditions.
  • Strong understanding of challenging behavior management, de-escalation techniques, and emotional support strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
  • Ability to work flexibly across various shifts.
  • An Enhanced DBS check will be required (we can assist with this).
  • Driving Licence and car.
