Job Summary
We are seeking a HCA or Phlebotomist to join our nursing team in August 2025 to cover Maternity leave.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a supportive team and gain valuable experience within the Primary Care setting.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurses and Nurse Practitioners, and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Health Care Assistant (HCA) will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care. The successful application will be suitably qualified to perform venipuncture.

Job Description
Job responsibilities
Principle Responsibilities:
Venipuncture
Delivery of Health Checks for a number of presentations;
Contribute to the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) by capturing outstanding data and management of outstanding and upcoming recalls;
In accordance with the practices Patient Specific Directives (PSDs) undertake vaccinations andinjections as appropriate (influenza vaccinations, B12 vitamin injections etc);
INR clinic delivery and management, including external QA for machinery;
Maintenance of legible and accurate patient records. Recording of relevant medical information ona number of computer databases;
Undertaking a wide range of diagnostic tests e.g. phlebotomy, urinalyses, peak flow recordings,
ECGs, pregnancy tests, O2 sats, blood pressures, pulses and temperatures in accordance withagreed protocols;
Carrying out new patient medicals;
Chaperone duties for examinations and procedures;
Assist with minor surgery procedures;
Responsibility for the completion, collection, dispatch and recording of laboratory specimens.
Checking, supplying and reordering laboratory paperwork and equipment;
Assisting in patient care e.g. cleaning and dressing minor wounds (as advised by and under thesupervision of the Practice Nurses);
Assisting in delivering health promotion to the local population;
Stock ordering and stock control within the consultation rooms;
Liaison with other professionals in the multi-disciplinary team;
Keeping up to date with professional development and training to ensure optimum effectiveness;
Acting in a professional manner in adherence to agreed policies, protocols and guidelines;
Any other duties which the Nurse Lead or Partners feel should fall under the responsibilities of this post.
