Job summary

The Oaks Care Home, part of Sandstone Care Group, in Newtown, Powys, is hiring a Senior Health Care Assistant. You will lead the care team, deliver high-quality, person-centred care, and support residents and families daily.

With a focus on dignity and independence, you will work 44 hours per week across day or night shifts, starting at £15.03 per hour. A Level 3 Health & Social Care qualification (or progression) is required, plus strong communication and record-keeping skills.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (or a willingness to work towards achieving one).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in a busy environment.
• Confidence using digital care systems and maintaining accurate records.
• Experience in residential, nursing, or care home settings.
• Experience supporting or supervising a team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding person-centred care to residents.

Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Senior Health Care Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced care professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional person-centred care while supporting and guiding colleagues. As a Senior Health Care Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring residents receive the highest standard of care, dignity, and support, while contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of the home. Key Responsivities Deliver Outstanding Care Support residents with personal care, hygiene, mobility, nutrition, hydration, and daily living activities. Promote independence, dignity, choice, and respect in all aspects of care. Ensure residents' individual preferences and needs are met at all times. Provide Emotional Support Build positive and meaningful relationships with residents and their families. Offer companionship and emotional reassurance, helping residents feel valued and supported. Support the Care Team Lead by example and provide guidance and support to care colleagues. Assist with staff supervision, mentoring, inductions, and performance development. Participate in supervisions, appraisals, and recruitment activities where required. Administer medication safely in line with policies and procedures. Maintain accurate care records and support care planning processes. Work collaboratively with nurses, healthcare professionals, and external agencies. Promote Health and Wellbeing Encourage residents to participate in meaningful activities that support their physical, emotional, and social wellbeing. Adapt support to suit individual interests, abilities, and personal goals. Maintain High Standards Help ensure the home remains safe, welcoming, and compliant with regulatory standards. Contribute to audits, quality assurance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.

We're seeking an experienced, compassionate leader with a passion for elderly care. Ideal candidates will have: Previous experience working within a residential, nursing, or care home environment. Experience supporting or supervising a team. A caring, approachable, and professional manner. The ability to remain calm and effective in a busy environment. A Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (or a willingness to work towards achieving one). Good written and verbal communication skills. Confidence using digital care systems and maintaining accurate records. Flexibility and a positive attitude towards teamwork and resident-focused care.
