  • Conduct Gap Analyses and Drive Improvements: Identify gaps between currently safety practices and best practices or regulatory standard and proactively develop and implement corrective actions to close those gaps.
  • Champion COSHH and Chemical Safety: Ensure effective COSHH management, including assessments, controls, training, and monitoring aligned with the demands of a chemical processing environment.
  • Collaborate, Advise and Influence: Work closely with teams and managers across the site to instil a culture of shared ownership for safety and well-being.
  • Management Solutions and Systems: Tailor ISO principles in a way that fits our fast-moving, innovative environment - no copy-paste systems, just smart, scalable practices.
  • Simplify, Streamline and Improve: Cut through unnecessary complexity to create clear, accessible and effective safety systems that support daily operations and future scale-up.
  • Ensure Compliance and Accountability: Maintain accurate records, meet regulatory requirements, and help drive a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Train, Support and Communicate: Develop and delivery targeted training, briefings and toolbox talks that build competence and drive accountability. And act as a visible, approachable presence on-site for all things health and safety.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Solid knowledge of UK H&S regulations and systems (e.g. ISO, HASAWA), with experience tailoring and implementing these to real-world, dynamic settings.
  • Strong experience with COSHH regulations, including practical application in chemical processing or similar industrial environments.
  • A deep understanding of safe working practices
  • Experience in a commercial or industrial environment - ideally where safety needed to evolve alongside rapid operational change.
  • A practical, collaborative mindset - able to work independently but always aligned with the broader HSE strategy.
  • Strong communication skills - able to engage all levels of the business and translate safety requirements into action.
  • Confidence with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, for managing documentation and reporting.
  • Ability to translate complex safety concepts into clear, actionable steps
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making abilities
  • A proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement and a "safety first" mindset

About Us:

Altilium is a UK-based company that recycles electric vehicle (EV) batteries to recover valuable materials.

EV batteries, even after their life in vehicles, still contain important minerals like lithium, cobalt, nickel, manganese and graphite. These minerals are essential for making new batteries but are limited and often come from virgin mining, which uses a lot of resources and creates environmental impact.

At Altilium, we safely extract these critical minerals from end-of-life EV batteries. We then process and prepare them to be returned into the supply chain to make new batteries. This recycling helps reduce reliance on mining, conserves natural resources, and supports a circular economy.

We work with major partners including Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) and Nissan, and our work is supported by the UK government, helping to strengthen domestic battery supply chains and create sustainable industry growth.

Our efforts contribute to building a more sustainable and efficient battery supply chain - supporting cleaner, reliable transportation and industry in the UK.

Our Commitment

We’re committed to being an inclusive employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds and perspectives.

If you need any adjustments during the application process or in the role, please let us know: we’re happy to support you.
