Job Description:

We are seeking a Health & Safety Manager to join our Wakefield Processing Centre team. The role involves coordinating and managing the environment, health, and safety functions across the distribution site, promoting best practices, and creating a safety-aware culture. The manager will develop and deliver safety programs, oversee health initiatives, and manage waste and environmental practices to ensure safety and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Ownership of the site SHE plan and ensuring compliance with the company's health and safety policies.
2. Attend and advise the health and safety committee and other relevant committees.
3. Implement and manage incident control procedures.
4. Stay updated with legislation, regulations, and best practices related to health and safety, and identify necessary actions.
5. Make recommendations and develop plans following external investigations or audits.
6. Lead the delivery of site and team health and safety training programs.
7. Manage health and safety inductions for new staff.
8. Provide first-line health and safety advice to line managers.
9. Promote accident prevention, safe working practices, and health initiatives.
10. Maintain and review accident and incident reporting procedures.
11. Communicate action plans for safety improvements and prevention.
12. Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and investigation of RIDDOR accidents.
13. Manage first aid facilities and support services.
14. Review and update risk assessments and implement necessary actions.
15. Manage waste practices and ensure compliance with legislation.
16. Build effective relationships with local authorities and regulatory bodies.
17. Partner with operations to reduce sickness and absenteeism through occupational health initiatives and reasonable adjustments.
