In this role, you will design a framework to support my client in their approach to the identification, management, measurement, monitoring, and reporting of health, safety, and environmental risks. You will assist the Head of Support Services in managing H&S risks to meet the company's objectives.
You will manage the day-to-day activities of the highly experienced and effective Health & Safety Team, including a large community of motivated Health and Safety Representatives.
You will lead and develop an experienced team of four to deliver statutory compliance (section 7), foster a safety-oriented culture, and further develop policies, strategies, and budgets to ensure the safety and health of my client's workforce.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Lead in establishing commitments to high and improving standards of H&S and ensure compliance with strategic aims and objectives.
- Ensure all identified risks (safety or business) are supported by policies and procedures compliant with current statutory provisions and regulations.
- Oversee the daily operations of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Department, including the centralized reporting system.
- Advise, guide, and support management to maintain compliance with current and future regulatory provisions related to Health, Safety, and Environmental matters.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure standards are applied across the business.
- Be responsible for incident reporting in line with statutory requirements.
- Review incidents and accident reports to promote continuous improvement, revising management systems as needed. Advise management at all levels on workplace controls.
- Provide safety data analysis, including root cause analysis, trend analysis, and safety alerts to facilitate lessons learned across the business, including contractors.
- Manage the training team to identify and deliver appropriate instruction on hazard identification, risks, and risk controls for all roles.
Desired Skills And Attributes
- Experience managing risk, safety, quality, and environmental management systems, especially ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001, within large construction or shipbuilding organizations.
- IT literacy, including Power BI and the full Microsoft Office suite, to support data analysis and presentation.
- Approachable and professional demeanor, with influential communication skills to build strong relationships across all organizational levels.
- Meticulous, organized, methodical, and self-motivated in task execution.
- Strong operational focus with proven management and leadership skills.
- Fully qualified in Health and Safety Management (NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent). Please do not apply if you only hold the NEBOSH certificate.
