Hargreaves Engineering is seeking a Safety Manager to lead SHEQ across engineering services, ensuring safe, compliant delivery of infrastructure, mechanical and electrical works. You will steer safety culture and compliance across projects and operations.

The role requires senior safety leadership, ISO experience, and a proactive, hands-on approach to guidance, audits and contractor oversight. A chartered IOSH status is preferred.

Formación

• Significant experience in a senior health and safety leadership role within construction, engineering, infrastructure or industrial operations.
• CDM experience and strong knowledge of risk management in engineering environments.
• Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 management systems.
• Proven track record leading audits, investigations and improvement programmes.
• Experience managing contractors and high-risk activities in large projects.
• Strong communication and influencing skills across all levels of the business.
• Ability to engage effectively from site level through to executive leadership.

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) management systems across the Engineering Services business.

The role exists to ensure all activities associated with infrastructure projects, mechanical and electrical engineering, construction activities and operational service delivery are conducted safely, legally and efficiently.

The post holder will provide strategic leadership and technical expertise to ensure the business maintains the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and quality performance whilst achieving operational objectives and maintaining full legal compliance. The role will drive a proactive safety culture that protects employees, contractors, visitors, clients and the environment.

The role briefly encompasses the following duties but is not limited to: -

• Leading the development and implementation of SHEQ strategies aligned with business objectives.

• Maintaining certification to ISO 45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/experience/ attributes:

• Significant experience in a senior health and safety leadership role within construction, engineering, infrastructure or industrial operations.
• CDM experience.
• Strong knowledge of operational and engineering risk management.
• Experience implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 management systems.
• Proven experience leading audits, investigations and improvement programmes.
• Experience managing contractors and high-risk activities.
• Strong communication and influencing skills.
• Ability to engage effectively from site level through to executive leadership.

Qualifications

• Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards chartered status.
• Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Engineering Management or a related discipline experience.
• Training in process safety, asset integrity or operational excellence.
• Environmental and Quality Management qualifications.
