Job description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Each Pupil Referral Unit offers pupils aged 5-16 who are permanently excluded or at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school as well as other pupils that the LA has a statutory responsibility for such as pregnant schoolgirls. Each PRU's core offer is to provide short term placements for pupils up to the end of Key stage 3 with the aim of successful re‑integration back into a mainstream setting. At Key Stage 4 the aim is to achieve accreditation to support pupils into the next stage of their education, employment or training. Whatever the context of the placement, every pupil's progress is assessed and monitored at all stages of their placement to ensure that provision remains appropriate and is outcome focused.

The additional responsibility of the Headteacher entails working with partner schools in a defined area (North Powys) to offer advice and support (training and outreach) to meet the needs of pupils with Social, Emotional and Behavioural needs. It also includes setting up a Powys‑wide multi‑agency network for behaviour support for schools.
