Job summary

Frome College, Frome, seeks an outstanding Headteacher/Principal to lead the school from January 2027 or as soon as possible. You will drive strategic vision, secure high standards of behaviour and achievement, and work with the Trust, governors and community to raise outcomes for pupils aged 11-16, with a future multi-tier governance and potential sixth form development.

  • Leading robust self-evaluation and rapid school improvement planning aligned with Trust priorities
  • Managing change through periods of transition, including potential re-structuring in Frome to secondary with a two-tier system
  • Managing resources effectively to ensure sustainability, efficiency and value for money
  • Building strong partnerships with parents, carers, local schools and community organisations
  • Leading and developing staff to their full potential through performance management and professional development
  • Ensuring safeguarding is robust and the wellbeing of all students and staff is paramount

**Role: Headteacher/Principal****Location: Frome College, Frome****Start Date: January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter****Closing Date: 9am Monday 28th September 2026****Anticipated Interview Date: 8th and 9th October 2026****Salary: L29 - L35 (start point within the scale negotiable depending on experience)****An outstanding leadership opportunity**Frome College is an Upper School for up to 1500 pupils aged 14 - 19 serving the town of Frome and surrounding areas.MNSP is seeking to appoint an exceptional Headteacher/Principal who can continue the improvement work that has taken place over the two years that the College has been a part of MNSP. Whilst the College is currently graded as ‘good’ in its most recent inspection, further rapid improvement in some key areas is required before the school’s next inspection.This is a rare opportunity for a leader who values high standards in behaviour and conduct of pupils, to combine strategic ambition with operational excellence, ensuring that every pupil can thrive academically and socially.In this role you will have responsibility for the leadership and management of the school, fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.
