Nuffield Health Newcastle Hospital is seeking a proactive Head Porter to lead our portering team and support high-quality facilities services across the site. You will coordinate day-to-day operations, ensuring the safe movement of patients, equipment and waste while delivering excellent customer service.

This hands-on leadership role requires supervising rotas, training and performance, with a focus on health and safety, infection control and data protection.

Qualifications

• Previous portering or facilities experience.
• Experience supervising or leading a team.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Strong customer service focus.
• Ability to work in busy healthcare environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and support the Portering Team.
• Manage rotas, annual leave, training, and performance.
• Ensure the safe transport of patients, equipment, furniture, and supplies.
• Coordinate waste, laundry, stock, post, and courier services.
• Support conference room setups, office moves, and reception cover when required.
• Assist with building security, parking patrols, and emergency procedures.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, infection control, and data protection requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and complete all required documentation.
