Job summary

Nether Stowe School is seeking a dedicated Head of Year (Non-Teaching) to join our pastoral team, focusing on student wellbeing, behaviour and attendance. This is an excellent opportunity for an internal colleague to lead the pastoral provision for a year group and uphold high standards across the school.

The Head of Year will work with the Senior Leadership Team, pastoral staff, teachers and families to support students' personal development and achievement, both academically and personally.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the pastoral care of a designated year group.
  • Monitor and support student attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing.
  • Act as the key contact for students, parents/carers, and staff.
  • Work with tutors, safeguarding leads, and senior leaders to support vulnerable students.
  • Implement behaviour and attendance strategies in line with policies.
  • Support restorative conversations and behaviour interventions.
  • Analyse pastoral data to identify trends and provide support.
  • Promote a positive culture and sense of belonging within the year group.
  • Contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing across the school.

Job description

Nether Stowe School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and highly organised Head of Year (Non-Teaching) to join our pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for an internal member of staff who is passionate about student wellbeing, behaviour, and pastoral care to take on a key leadership role within the school community.

The Head of Year will play a vital role in supporting students' personal development, wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, pastoral staff, teachers, and families, the successful candidate will ensure that all students are supported to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

This is a non-teaching position, focused on leading the pastoral provision for a year group and ensuring high standards of behaviour, attendance, and engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and coordinate the pastoral care of a designated year group
  2. Monitor and support student attendance, behaviour, and wellbeing
  3. Act as the key point of contact for students, parents/carers, and staff regarding pastoral matters
