Job description

Elevation Procurement & Supply Chain is partnering with an international regulated manufacturing and distribution business to find a Head of Transport for their bulk tanker division.

The Role:

Responsible for leading tanker operations to meet performance targets and comply with statutory and governance requirements.

Provides operational support and technical authority to transport activities.

Develops and implements strategies aligned with global best practices to ensure consistency across the UK.

Ensures internal transport services adhere to company policies, including contractor compliance.

As part of the leadership team, drives operational strategies to meet delivery priorities.

Collaborates with sales, key customers, and supply chain teams to establish commercial frameworks and service levels.

Leads business improvements in bulk transport operations and communicates developments to stakeholders and external bodies such as DFT and government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead bulk and cryogenic delivery operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and performance goals.
• Act as the primary negotiator for the transport function and manage trade union relations through the Driver Working Group.
• Develop policies and programs for all UK transport platforms, ensuring team capability aligns with industry standards and global programs.
• Contribute to the development and execution of the UK business strategy.
• Implement major changes collaboratively with stakeholders, supporting talent development, rewards, and recognition initiatives.
• Align the transport team's capabilities with the business agenda, deploying project management tools like Six Sigma.
• Prepare and present annual plans and quarterly performance updates for the Cylinder operation.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, efficiency improvements, KPI reporting, and management reviews.

The Person:

• Knowledge of products, SHEQ requirements, and industry standards.
• Strong people, project, and change management skills.
• Experience working in a trade union environment.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Financial and commercial awareness.

This is a hybrid role based either in South Yorkshire or North West, with flexible working arrangements.

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + Car + Bonus + Benefits
