Job summary

Leeds Building Society is seeking a Head of Technology - Shared Services to shape the technology foundations of the organisation. You will define the strategy for Azure cloud, networks, hosting, and colleague systems, guiding the transition of Core platforms into Shared Services and driving modernisation.

The role requires navigating a complex, regulated environment, balancing cost, risk and performance, and enabling a more self-service, hybrid-working future for colleagues.

Qualifications

• Direct senior leadership experience transforming a technology function.
• Credible senior leader with gravitas, able to communicate strategy to the C-suite.
• Experience across Azure cloud, networks, hosting, infrastructure, DevOps and automation.
• Ownership of mission-critical technology suppliers and outsourced services.

Job description

A strong, visible people leader who cares, connects and coaches, can win hearts and minds through sustained change, and builds capability, engagement and performance.

• Direct senior leadership experience of transforming a technology function, including its operating model, ways of working, culture, capability and organisational structure.
• A credible, confidence-inspiring senior leader with curiosity and gravitas, able to think differently, connect technology end to end and communicate a compelling strategy at every level, including the C-suite.
• Strong technical leadership across Azure cloud, networks, hosting, infrastructure, colleague systems, DevOps and automation, including introducing and owning Core platforms.
• Proven ownership of mission-critical technology suppliers and outsourced services, improving performance, strengthening partnerships and securing value for money.
• Expertise in modern infrastructure engineering practices, including site reliability engineering, infrastructure as code and containerisation.
• A track record of delivering complex infrastructure and platform programmes at scale, managing operational risk while maintaining service continuity.
• Proven success running safe, resilient services, ideally in financial services or another regulated environment, balancing risk, cost and performance while exploring AI and self-service safely.
• Strong risk and control leadership, using structured approaches and sound judgement to maintain security, resilience and regulatory compliance through significant change.
• Commercial expertise in budgets, cost optimisation, suppliers and RFPs, with a strategic, collaborative and customer-focused approach.
