We’ve been exclusively engaged by one of the East Midlands’ top employers, a high-performing PLC with a global footprint, to recruit a standout Head of Technical Finance.

This is a unique opportunity to join a business at the forefront of innovation and operational excellence. You’ll play a critical leadership role within the Financial Control team, providing technical finance expertise across a complex and highly regulated division.

This is more than a reporting role. You’ll be a key partner to the Group, external auditors, and senior stakeholders, bringing confidence, clarity, and technical rigour to the integrity of financial statements, forecasts, and strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities:

1. Lead external audit programme management across the division, partnering closely with External Audit Partner and Group Finance
2. Prepare and present key audit issue papers to the divisional Audit Committee
3. Provide authoritative insight on technical accounting treatments (IFRS) and policy interpretation
4. Challenge the integrity and accuracy of financials through robust risk management
5. Enforce governance frameworks to mitigate financial risk, fraud, and error
6. Offer functional assurance on all major investments, bids, and contracts
7. Direct and develop a team of two (Technical Finance Business Partner + Chief Accountant)
8. Be a core member of the Financial Control Leadership Team, setting strategic direction and aligning teams

What we’re looking for:

1. ACA/ACCA qualified with strong IFRS expertise, ideally from a Big 4 or audit background
2. Excellent technical accounting knowledge including FX and complex transactions
3. Proven experience working in or with PLC environments
4. Outstanding communicator and influencer, able to distil complex topics into actionable insights
5. A calm, credible leader who thrives under pressure and enjoys problem solving
6. A track record of delivering to tight deadlines with commercial awareness
