Java Technical Lead – Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, MySQL, CI/CD – Travel Sector

Outstanding opportunity to join this global travel company in a ‘hands-on’ technical lead role with some design & architecture responsibility. At the core of this business is a global, distributed, high-availability, microservices-based platform for online booking supporting millions of transactions. This role leads the team that develops and maintains this platform.

This role is ideal for a Senior Engineer with team leadership and design experience from a small to medium-sized company, capable of operating creatively in a highly agile and less structured environment. There is a significant opportunity to influence the technical direction of the platform. The key skills required include:

1. 2+ years’ experience in designing & architecture of scalable, high-availability enterprise platforms
2. 5+ years’ software development experience with Java, Spring Boot, Hibernate, SQL, and Linux
3. Extensive experience with Microservices and Distributed Systems
4. Experience in the travel, airline, or GDS sectors
5. Experience leading teams of 3-5 developers, including code reviews, mentoring, and establishing best practices
6. Experience with scalable systems, CI/CD, DevOps, and Test Automation
7. Knowledge of Agile practices and Domain Driven Design (DDD)
8. Experience evaluating and implementing new frameworks and technologies
9. Willingness to travel to Cyprus once every 6 weeks (rest remote)
10. A degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field
11. Passion for fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement

The salary range is £80,000 to £90,000 per annum plus benefits. The role is based in London with 90% remote work.
