Job summary

Artificial is seeking a senior technical writer/documentation engineer to own and elevate our product and API documentation. You will shape information architecture, set standards for editorial quality, and partner with engineering and product teams to release clear, developer-friendly content.

You will lead docs tooling, explore AI-assisted authoring, and build scalable contribution models to empower engineers and product managers while maintaining a high bar for clarity and accuracy.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in technical writing, documentation engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Experience producing end-user product documentation and credible API guides.
• Hands-on with docs-as-code workflows (Git workflows, SSGs, CI).
• A portfolio showing clear, accessible technical writing for diverse readers.
• Familiar with OpenAPI specs and generating reference docs.
• Experience in InsurTech, FinTech or regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own client-facing product documentation end-to-end: strategy, IA, standards and tooling.
• Own the internal documentation backlog: triage, route to authors, and write when needed.
• Steward internal docs site and public API docs: set standards and editorial bar.
• Interview engineers to translate features into clear non-technical reader content.
• Act as editorial reviewer to catch duplication and unclear writing.
• Write and maintain high-value client content: guides and release notes.
• Build and run docs toolchain: docs-as-code, static sites, CI gates.
• Design AI-assisted authoring pipelines to boost quality and throughput.
• Develop contribution models so PMs/engineers contribute content you curate.
• Collaborate with Integrations on API docs and keep guides aligned with releases.
• Measure usage, search, and feedback to improve docs continuously.
