Job summary

Owen Daniels seeks a Head of Systems Engineering in Portsmouth for a permanent role in the marine sector. You will lead systems engineering, safety, and test & validation, ensuring quality and timely delivery across multiple disciplines.

You will manage a department of engineers, drive requirements capture, verification, and compliance with maritime safety standards, and champion data-driven interface management and risk assessment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering or related field.
• Experience with safety-critical systems and maritime projects.
• Model-based systems engineering concepts applied to complex projects.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Heading up a department of engineers across systems engineering, safety, assurance, and test & validation.
• Oversee capture, analysis, and validation of system requirements with stakeholders.
• Establish verification and validation strategy across all system levels for compliance.
• Manage 3rd party assurance ensuring designs meet regulatory requirements.
• Lead cross-disciplinary collaboration across mechanical, electrical, software, and control systems teams.
• Build and mentor high-performing teams across Systems Engineering, Safety and Test & Validation.
• Remain accountable for budgetary control across three disciplines and ensure local processes.
