Job summary

Butler Rose seeks an experienced Head of Supply Chain & Procurement to lead end-to-end supply chain in a complex engineering environment. You will own procurement, contracts, logistics, inventory, and supplier performance, driving governance and commercial excellence.

Reporting to the Business Services Director, you’ll shape strategy, build high‑performing teams, and influence senior stakeholders to deliver long‑term goals with robust risk controls and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Head of Supply Chain & Procurement to lead the end-to-end supply chain function for a complex operational business. This is a strategic leadership role where you'll oversee procurement, commercial contracting, logistics, supplier performance, and inventory management, ensuring the supply chain operates efficiently, compliantly, and in line with long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Shape and deliver the overall supply chain and procurement strategy.
• Lead teams across procurement, commercial contracts, logistics, and inventory.
• Develop both short and long-term plans that support wider business goals.
• Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and best practice across the function.

Commercial & Contract Management

• Oversee the full contract lifecycle, ensuring strong governance and commercial control.
• Monitor contract performance, spend, milestones, and delivery outcomes.
• Lead the management of commercial risks, disputes, and contractual issues.
• Ensure robust supplier due diligence before and after contract award.

Supplier Performance & Risk

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and contractors.
• Manage supplier onboarding and ongoing performance through KPI-led reviews.
• Maintain supply chain risk controls and proactively address emerging issues.
• Ensure commercial decisions are supported by effective risk management.

Governance, Compliance & Performance

• Monitor supply chain performance using meaningful data and reporting.
• Lead internal and external audit activity, ensuring actions are completed effectively.
• Ensure compliance with internal governance standards and relevant regulations.
• Drive a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with leaders across the business to ensure supply chain priorities align with operational needs.
• Provide guidance and training on procurement processes and governance.
• Build strong internal relationships to support consistent decision-making across the organisation.

About You

You’ll be an accomplished supply chain leader with significant experience operating in a complex engineering, energy, or industrial environment.

Essential Experience

• Proven leadership experience across procurement, contracting, logistics, and inventory management.
• Strong commercial and contract negotiation skills, with experience delivering high-value agreements.
• Excellent understanding of supply chain governance and risk management.
• Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic change.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory and commercial frameworks within a technical or operational industry.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified or equivalent experience.
• Professional membership such as MCIPS, CILT, or a similar recognised qualification is desirable.
