A purpose-driven organisation is looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Social Media and Community to lead social media strategy and community engagement. Sitting within a newly formed Brand and Communications team, this role will shape the company’s social presence, grow member engagement, and contribute to broader brand and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Social Strategy: Develop and execute a data-led social media strategy aligned with business objectives and tailored to platform-specific audiences.
- Community Building: Foster online and offline communities, manage engagement, and grow advocacy among members.
- Team Leadership: Lead the social team and collaborate across brand, content, PR, product, and customer service functions.
- Content Oversight: Guide platform-specific content and influencer strategies; ensure brand consistency across all social channels.
- Analytics & Optimisation: Define KPIs, track performance, and apply insights to improve reach, engagement, and ROI.
- Paid Social: Work with paid media teams to deliver effective social ad campaigns that drive awareness and conversions.
- Trend Monitoring: Stay on top of platform changes and industry trends; recommend new tools and approaches.
- Reputation Management: Manage issues and protect brand sentiment in collaboration with PR and legal teams.
Experience Required
- 7+ years in social media marketing, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven ability to scale social and community engagement for member-led or high-growth brands.
- Strong understanding of platform dynamics, content marketing, paid social, and analytics.
- Skilled in managing teams, budgets, and external partners.
- Excellent communication skills and brand acumen.
- Experience with community platforms (e.g. Facebook Groups), influencer campaigns, and membership-based organisations.
- Familiarity with SEO, generative AI, and their relevance to social strategy.
- Track record of delivering high-impact or viral campaigns.
