Opportunity at Cambian Group

We have a rare opportunity to join the Cambian Group in a well-established Specialist Mental Health Service, a children’s residential home with educational provision for up to 12 children. As a senior leader within our specialist mental health services, you will play a major role in transforming service delivery and enriching our children’s experiences.

The role is based at the children’s home in Friday Bridge, Wisbech.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Head of Service who will also serve as Registered Manager to meet the aims outlined in the Statement of Purpose for the children’s home and support the wider needs of the Meeko site. You will oversee a 12-bed home for children aged 12-18, many of whom require additional support due to mental health issues or safety concerns related to self-injurious behaviors.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, including clinical staff and educators, to support the children’s transitions and meet their care plan goals.

You will collaborate with a regional manager to develop the service further and support the team in the absence of the regional manager.

Candidate Requirements

Ideally, candidates will have experience working with children with mental health challenges, knowledge of the Mental Health Act, and a proven track record in children’s homes and Ofsted frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review individual care plans reflecting each young person's needs.
  • Maintain high standards of care and safety.
  • Act as designated safeguarding lead, ensuring child protection protocols are followed.
  • Handle complaints and child protection concerns proactively.
  • Collaborate with families and professionals to promote welfare.
  • Manage staffing levels, budgets, and resources effectively.
  • Support service development and legislative compliance.
  • Work with other managers and support their development.
Ideal Candidate Profile

Proven experience with Ofsted or clinical settings, with a desire to advance into senior management and contribute to the development of mental health services.

Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge of childcare legislation and safeguarding.
  • Understanding of complex needs and mental health support systems.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors and lead a large team.
  • Full UK Driving License.
  • Recent experience working with children (minimum 2 years) and supervisory experience (minimum 1 year).
  • Experience in children’s mental health and practices.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance for children and adults.
