The School of Foundation, Intermediate Learning and Employability at Kingston College is seeking a Section Head responsible for staff and curriculum standards in the cross-college mandatory maths delivery area. The focus is on ensuring students receive a first-class experience that enables them to progress, attain qualifications at high levels, and develop long-lasting learning and employability skills.
This role involves implementing the area business and improvement plans, contributing to the College’s objectives, and ensuring compliance with funding conditions for maths skills development. The successful candidate will oversee high-quality teaching, improve success rates, and gather excellent student feedback.
As Head of Section, you will teach GCSE or A level Maths and oversee functional skills maths, GCSE maths, and A level Maths, ensuring a responsive and high-quality service to the College.
Applicants should hold a degree or relevant professional qualifications, a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards it), and have participated in recent professional development. You should have excellent teaching skills in GCSE or A level Maths, be recognized as a good or better teacher, and have current knowledge of curriculum changes and their implications.
Experience in leading/managing maths, a track record of making sustained improvements, and a vision for curriculum development are essential. You should understand quality assurance processes and have experience supporting ‘at-risk’ learners and staff development.
The successful candidate will be eligible for salary increases based on annual cost of living reviews.
