Job summary

Reed is seeking an inspiring Head of Science to lead a thriving department and drive excellent teaching, learning and outcomes across KS3–KS5. You will shape curriculum development, raise standards and mentor colleagues while working with senior leaders to drive whole-school improvement.

The role requires QTS, a good honours degree, and a proven track record in leadership and raising standards. You will lead with strategic vision and develop staff and students within a supportive, ambitious

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
• Honours degree in a relevant subject is required.
• Experience leading or coaching colleagues and raising standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Science department.
• Deliver high-quality teaching across KS3, KS4 and KS5.
• Monitor student progress and implement effective intervention strategies to maximise achievement.
• Lead curriculum planning, assessment and quality assurance within the department.
• Support, coach and develop colleagues to enhance teaching and learning.
• Promote high expectations for behaviour, attendance and academic success.
• Track and analyse performance data to drive continuous improvement.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.
• Contribute to whole-school improvement initiatives and professional learning programmes.
• Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, parents and wider stakeholders to support student success.
