Reed in Reading is seeking a Head of Science to lead a busy department across KS3-KS5, delivering a broad, ambitious curriculum and ensuring high standards.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • A good honours degree in a science-related subject.
  • Experience leading and developing colleagues in a STEM department.

Responsibilities

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Science to lead a thriving department and drive outstanding teaching, learning and student outcomes across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. The Opportunity

As Head of Science, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a broad, ambitious and engaging curriculum that challenges all learners and promotes a culture of high achievement. Working closely with senior leaders and colleagues, you will lead curriculum development, raise standards and champion excellence across the department.

This role is ideal for an experienced teacher with a proven track record of outstanding classroom practice and the ability to motivate and develop others.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Science department.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A good honours degree in a relevant subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for Science education.
  • Experience of leading, coaching or developing colleagues.
  • A track record of raising standards and improving outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and leadership abilities.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with students, staff and families.
  • A genuine desire to contribute to all aspects of school life.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
