Job summary

St Leonards School invites applications for a Director of Hockey to lead and develop the school's hockey programme, raising standards and a positive team culture. You will coach across age groups, plan sessions, and manage fixtures with the Director of Sport. The post may be resident or non-resident and duties include safeguarding compliance and weekend commitments.

Qualifications

• Experience coaching hockey with children or young people.
• A relevant hockey coaching qualification, or equivalent coaching experience.
• Sound technical and tactical knowledge with the ability to plan purposeful sessions.
• Ability to lead and encourage colleagues, communicate clearly with pupils and parents, and work within a school sports team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and to meeting recruitment checks and training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the hockey programme within the School’s sporting priorities.
• Develop a coherent approach to hockey across age groups with clear progression.
• Review the programme each season using participation, progress and feedback to identify improvements.
• Encourage enthusiasm for hockey and foster a positive team culture based on effort and sportsmanship.
