An established industry player is seeking a dynamic Head of School to lead a SEMH Special provision in Camden Town. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of education for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and a deep understanding of SEND. You will be instrumental in developing a rich curriculum and personalized interventions that empower students to succeed. Join a committed team dedicated to transforming lives and making a significant impact in the community.
The Governors of H3 Federation are looking to appoint an outstanding Head of Harmood School to lead our SEMH Special provision to the next level.
Harmood School is a SEMH Special School at the heart of Camden Town in Central London. It serves up to 40 students whose principal area of need is their social, emotional and mental health. In 2022, Ofsted rated the school as ‘Good’ overall. The school now requires a strong and resilient new leader to develop a new vision for the setting, and to take it to the next level.
At a time of significant change in the local and national educational landscape, H3 Federation is determined to play a solution-focused part in providing for local children with SEND needs. We believe that Harmood School can become a national leader in SEMH Special Education. Governors are determined to capitalise upon this moment, and build a senior team that can lead the school sustainably into its next phase and beyond.
This is an excellent career opportunity for a talented education and SEND professional to lead others in a small, specialist setting. The successful candidate will demonstrate ability to inspire confidence in others, and to manage the complexity of day to day provision. We are looking for a leader who can lead by example, and show flexibility, integrity and creativity in forming a compelling new vision. In time, the role will also involve wider leadership responsibilities across the Federation.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the role that a rich, well-planned curriculum, and excellent personalised interventions can play in supporting students to overcome barriers to learning. You will be committed to developing students’ confidence and skills, so that they believe they can be successful in their own lives. You will have a strong understanding of nurture and trauma-informed practice. It is important that you are a team player, with agile leadership skills, and strong emotional intelligence. You will be able to lead and manage staff at all levels, and play your full part within the wider Federation. You will have a deep understanding of the particular duties resting on special school settings for safeguarding young people.
H3 Federation is a group of three Camden Schools which work together to ensure that ‘Every Student Can Learn and Grow’. The successful candidate will benefit from the opportunity to develop their careers within a Federation committed to professional development and progression opportunities. The postholder will be a member of the Federation’s Executive team, with possible future opportunities to play a wider role across different schools.
If you share our passion for ensuring high standards for all, and have the ambition to help transform the lives of the young people in our school, we would very much like to hear from you.
