Job summary

A1 Personnel is recruiting for a Head of Residential Conveyancing (Solicitor) near Romford. A high street firm seeks an experienced solicitor to lead the conveyancing department, balancing hands-on work with leadership responsibilities.

The role requires approximately five years’ PQE, strong technical expertise, and a proactive, results-driven approach. Excellent salary and progression opportunities are offered within a supportive firm.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5 years' PQE in residential conveyancing.
• Extensive experience handling freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
• Strong knowledge of residential property law and conveyancing procedures.
• Solid understanding of SRA regulations, AML requirements and risk management.
• Excellent organisational, communication and client-relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing and overseeing the daily operations of the residential conveyancing department.
• Supervising, mentoring and supporting fee earners and administrative colleagues.
• Providing technical guidance on residential property transactions, including complex matters.
• Overseeing a range of freehold and leasehold sales and purchases.
• Ensuring transactions progress from instruction to completion.
• Monitoring workloads, deadlines and departmental performance.
• Maintaining excellent client relationships and high standards of care.
• Ensuring compliance with SRA AML requirements and conveyancing procedures.
• Developing relationships with estate agents and mortgage brokers.
• Working with Directors to identify opportunities for growth.
