This is a key leadership role with real scope to shape positive and constructive change across our Repairs team, improving service delivery, exploring modern technology to strengthening performance and enhancing the experience of our tenants. Responsible for a strong repairs service comprising 38FTE made up of skilled operatives, team managers, apprentices and scheduling and data staff dispersed across the D&G region.

We are looking for a skilled and credible leader with strong experience in housing repairs, who has successfully led multi-disciplined trade teams and managed contractors to deliver safe, efficient and tenant-focused services. You will bring the commercial awareness and business acumen needed to drive productivity, deliver value for money and identify opportunities to grow and strengthen the service.

Strong leadership will be essential. You will have a proven ability to motivate, develop and performance manage teams, create and deliver operational plans, solve problems effectively and lead service improvement in a way that delivers excellent outcomes for tenants. You will also bring sound knowledge of health and safety, building safety, damp and mould challenges, relevant housing legislation, risk management, value for money and continuous improvement principles.

What is essential for the job?
  • You will have strong experience in a senior repairs, maintenance or building management role within the social housing sector, with a good understanding of building maintenance, compliance legislation and wider regulatory requirements.
  • You will be able to lead, motivate and develop teams, manage performance effectively and support colleagues with technical advice on repairs, cyclical maintenance and compliance issues.
  • You will bring experience of managing budgets, procurement, contracts and contractor performance, with a clear focus on value for money, risk management and continuous improvement.

  • You will have a strong commitment to health and safety, building safety, tenant centred service delivery and Loreburn's GREAT values.
  • You will need adequate home working arrangements, the ability to attend the Dumfries base when required, participate in an out-of-hours rota and hold a full UK driving licence with access to a vehicle for business travel.

You will be home based, ideally living within Dumfries and Galloway or within reasonable travelling distance of our hub in Dumfries. You will attend meetings, training and key service activities when needed, and should expect to visit your teams at least one day each week for meetings, toolbox talks and visible leadership of the repairs workforce. Regular travel across Dumfries and Galloway will also be required.

You will play an instrumental role in leading the delivery of our repairs service across Dumfries and Galloway, using your previous experience of leading tenant-focused repairs teams to drive service excellence and ensure compliance and operational standards are consistently met.
