Job summary

Purosearch Ltd invites applications for a Head of Quality, Compliance and Risk to lead QA, compliance and risk management across multiple children's homes. Based mainly in Preston/Prestwich with Midlands travel, the role shapes governance, drives continuous improvement and supports managers to ensure safe, compliant services.

The post requires extensive experience in children’s residential settings, knowledge of safeguarding and Ofsted, and the ability to influence senior teams.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience in children's residential care.
  • Experience in Quality, Compliance, Operations or Senior Management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, safeguarding and Ofsted.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Quality Assurance, Compliance and Risk Management across all children’s homes.
  • Develop and drive continuous improvement and regulatory excellence.
  • Conduct QA audits, inspections and compliance monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements.
  • Support Registered Managers and leadership teams to achieve positive inspection outcomes.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate organisational risks.
  • Monitor safeguarding and promote accountability and child-centred care.
  • Analyse performance data and report to SLT.
  • Develop and oversee service improvement plans and implement sustainable change.
  • Lead on policy development, regulatory updates and compliance improvements.

Job description

Head of Quality, Compliance and Risk

Location: Multi-site role, with main homes based in Preston and Prestwich and regular travel across the Midlands. Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum, plus fully covered travel expenses. Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, standard office hours, with occasional on-call responsibilities to provide operational support to Registered Managers.

What We're Looking For
  • Significant experience working within children's residential care
  • Previous experience in a Quality, Compliance, Operations or Senior Management role
  • Strong knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, safeguarding legislation and Ofsted requirements
  • Proven experience carrying out quality assurance, auditing and compliance monitoring
  • Excellent understanding of governance, risk management and continuous improvement
  • Experience supporting Registered Managers and operational teams to achieve positive outcomes
  • Strong analytical, organisational and report-writing skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
  • Ability to influence, coach and support managers to achieve high standards
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) (desirable)
  • Experience supporting services through Ofsted inspections and improvement programmes (desirable)
  • Experience operating at Senior Leadership level within children's services (desirable)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the Midlands
  • Successful applicants will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the organisation's Quality Assurance, Compliance and Risk Management framework across all children's homes
  • Develop and drive a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory excellence
  • Conduct quality assurance audits, inspections and compliance monitoring across services
  • Ensure compliance with Children's Homes Regulations, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements
  • Support Registered Managers and leadership teams to achieve positive inspection outcomes
  • Identify, assess and mitigate organisational risks
  • Monitor safeguarding practices and promote a strong culture of accountability and child-centred care
  • Analyse performance data and produce reports for the Senior Leadership Team
  • Develop and oversee service improvement plans, supporting managers to implement sustainable change
  • Lead on policy development, regulatory updates and compliance improvements
  • Promote trauma-informed practice and best practice across all services
  • Work closely with the Director of Care and Senior Leadership Team to drive operational excellence and improve outcomes for children and young people
