Job summary

Wetherby Pembridge, part of Inspired Education Group, seeks a Head of PSHE to lead a world-class RSHE/PSHE programme across Years 7–13 in London. You will shape curriculum, policies and pedagogy with autonomy and the support of the Founding Leadership Team.

The ideal candidate has a PGCE/QTS, substantial PSHE leadership, up-to-date RSHE knowledge, and the ability to teach GCSEs. You will drive safeguarding, staff development and co-curricular engagement.

Qualifications

• PGCE/QTS or equivalent and a recognised degree.
• Significant PSHE experience, ideally with leadership in a high-performing school.
• Up-to-date knowledge of RSHE guidance and safeguarding requirements.
• Ability to teach GCSE level.
• Excellent teaching, planning and classroom management.
• Effective use of educational technology to enhance teaching and learning.
• Strong commitment to student welfare, safeguarding and personal development.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Resilience, flexibility, enthusiasm and ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Being responsible to the Deputy Head (Pastoral) for all aspects of PSHE provision within the school.
• Developing an ambitious, age-appropriate PSHE curriculum for Years 7-13 meeting RSHE guidance and IS standards.
• Developing Schemes of Work and high-quality teaching resources.
• Leading and coordinating PSHE delivery across the school via timetabled lessons, tutor programme, assemblies and drop-down days.
• Training, supporting and quality-assuring tutors and colleagues delivering PSHE, including observations.
• Collaborating with safeguarding leads to ensure responsive PSHE addressing online safety and SEND needs.
• Developing and reviewing RSHE/PSHE policies and engaging parents.
• Communicating with parents about the PSHE programme through information evenings/workshops.
• Coordinating external speakers and organisations to enrich PSHE.
• Assessing student progress and gathering student voice to inform development.
• Teaching PSHE and possibly an academic subject with appropriate allocation of time.
• Participating in Heads of Department and pastoral meetings.
• Promoting Continuing Professional Development in PSHE.
• Managing the PSHE budget and ensuring inspection readiness.
• Liaising with SLT to develop Community Partnership opportunities.
