Overview

Head of Private Client | 5+ PQE | Leading Regional Firm | Coventry (with travel across sites)

BCL Legal is working with a well-established regional law firm seeking an experienced Head of Private Client to lead its highly regarded Private Client department. This is a full-time, permanent position based primarily in Coventry, offering a genuine leadership opportunity within a supportive and long-standing team.

This is an ideal opportunity for a senior private client solicitor with experience in trusts and complex estate matters to take the reins of an already successful department and shape its future.

The Role

As Head of Private Client, you will:

• Oversee and lead a team of experienced private client lawyers and support staff
• Handle a broad range of matters including Wills, LPAs, trusts, estate administration, and Court of Protection work
• Provide supervision and mentoring, fostering team development and knowledge-sharing
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards
• Play a key role in the strategic growth and development of the department
• Engage in business development and client relationship management activities
• Maintain sound financial and billing practices to ensure team profitability

The Ideal Candidate

• A qualified solicitor with at least 5 years' PQE in private client law
• Strong technical expertise across the full range of private client work
• Comfortable handling complex matters, including high-value estates and trusts
• Proven experience managing or mentoring others
• Excellent client-facing, communication, and organisational skills
• STEP membership is highly desirable, but not essential
• A confident leader, comfortable contributing to wider firm strategy

Additional Requirements

• Due to the multi-office nature of the firm, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential
