Job summary

Zero Point Motion is seeking a Photoonics‑savvy Head of Engineering to own the transition of photonic concepts into production‑ready PICs, lasers and detectors. The role requires intense hands‑on leadership in the lab and in code, with a focus on production readiness, yield, and robust scale‑up decisions.

You will drive maturity across MEMS, electronics, mechanics, firmware and software interfaces, manage external suppliers, and set high standards for automation, testing, and cross‑domain

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on photonics experience (PICs with lasers/detectors).
• Plus technical experience in MEMS sensor systems or ASIC/FPGA.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery of PICs, lasers and detectors from design freeze through scale-up.
• Drive photonic maturity: stability, yield, repeatability, margin.
• Understand MEMS behaviour, electronics performance, packaging interactions, and software behaviour.
• Lead photonics-centric automation across design checks, simulation, test and calibration.
• Be hands-on in the lab with optical alignment and cross-domain data analysis.
• Write Python-based tooling for test automation, data analysis and performance reporting.
• Define clear component-level performance targets and acceptance criteria.
