Job summary

Zero Point Motion is seeking a Photonics Experimental & Fabrication Engineer to design and run experiments, automate measurements, and analyse large datasets to understand how PICs, lasers, detectors, and nonlinear optical effects behave under real operating conditions.

You will combine fabrication intuition with rigorous experimentation, working on active photonic test setups, data processing, and system-level insights, while collaborating with design, process, electronics, FPGA, and systems

Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experimental experience with photonic systems including lasers, photodetectors and PICs or fibre‑based waveguides.
• Comfort with active and bias‑dependent behaviour, not just passive components.
• Fabrication or process‑development experience used analytically.
• Demonstrated Python coding ability beyond trivial scripts.
• Comfort handling large datasets and statistics.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and improve experiments involving lasers, photodetectors, active PIC components and biasing.
• Run automated wafer-scale and lot-scale measurements.
• Characterise behaviour across bias points, optical power, temperature, time.
• Invent new experimental or analysis approaches when results are messy or non‑ideal.
