HCA UK’s Harborne Hospital in Birmingham is seeking a Head of Pharmacy to lead a high‑performing hospital pharmacy service. The role oversees safety, quality, governance, and financial performance while delivering strategic development within a private healthcare provider.

The successful candidate will have GPhC registration, 5+ years of hospital pharmacy leadership experience, and a track record in managing people, budgets and regulatory compliance across a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• GPhC registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Minimum of 5 years hospital pharmacy experience.
• Proven leadership experience with people, projects and budgets.
• Strong knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations, governance and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the hospital Pharmacy service to ensure safe, effective medication practices.
• Oversee departmental budgets, financial performance, stock control and revenue capture.
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures and quality improvement initiatives.
• Manage and mentor pharmacy staff, including recruitment, training and performance management.
• Drive clinical governance, audits and risk management activities, including chairing relevant committees.

We’re looking for a Head of Pharmacy to join our Pharmacy team based at Harborne Hospital Our Pharmacy service plays a vital role in delivering safe, effective, and high-quality medication management across the hospital. The team works collaboratively with clinical and operational colleagues to ensure optimal patient outcomes, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in pharmaceutical services. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a well-established team and further develop a high-performing service within a leading independent healthcare provider.

What you’ll do:
