Job summary

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Head of Performance (Band 8b) to provide strategic and operational leadership to the Planning and Performance function.

The post holder will strengthen the Trust's approach to performance management across services, providing expert advice, analysis and assurance to support delivery of priorities, national standards and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Operational Planning and Performance teams, ensuring delivery of objectives and responsible resource management.
• Coordinate monitoring and review of operational performance, identify risks, support escalation and ensure improvement plans.
• Lead planning processes aligned with Trust, ICB and national priorities, supporting delivery of objectives and standards.
• Provide expert interpretation of complex performance information, translating data into meaningful insight for decision‑making.
• Build relationships with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues to support a collaborative approach to performance management.
• Promote effective performance management practices and lead projects contributing to organisational priorities.

Job description

The post holder will be responsible for:

• Leadership and management: Lead and develop the Operational Planning and Performance teams, ensuring effective delivery of objectives, staff development and responsible management of resources.
• Performance oversight and assurance: Coordinate the monitoring and review of operational performance, identifying risks, supporting escalation and ensuring robust improvement and recovery plans are in place.
• Planning and delivery: Lead and coordinate service-level planning processes aligned with Trust, Integrated Care Board (ICB) and national priorities, supporting the delivery of operational objectives and performance standards.
• Analysis and insight: Provide expert interpretation of complex performance information, translating data into meaningful insight to support decision-making, improvement and executive assurance.
• Partnership working: Build effective relationships with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues, supporting a consistent and collaborative approach to performance management across the Trust.
• Continuous improvement: Promote effective performance management practices, support service improvement initiatives and lead designated projects that contribute to organisational priorities.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Performance (Band 8b) to provide strategic and operational leadership to the Planning and Performance function at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in strengthening the Trust's approach to performance management, ensuring effective planning, monitoring and improvement processes are embedded across operational services. Working closely with senior clinical and operational leaders, the post holder will provide expert advice, analysis and assurance to support the delivery of organisational priorities, national standards and improved outcomes for patients.
