Job summary

Saint George's Church of England School in Gravesend is seeking an outstanding Head of Physical Education to lead our PE team across a all-though school. The role is full-time and permanent with MPS/UPS plus TLR 2A (£8,611) per annum, starting January 2027.

You will drive high standards in PE and sport, lead teaching and wellbeing for pupils aged 4–18, and develop our extra-curricular offer while contributing to whole-school improvement and CPD opportunities.

• Evidence of outstanding teaching and leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to raise student outcomes in PE.

We are delighted to offer a very exciting opportunity for an outstanding teacher and leader to lead our PE team in our over-subscribed, successful and inclusive Church of England All-Through School.

The school has an existing reputation for high-quality education with a relentless focus upon high expectations and aspirations, physical education plays a key role in this, and in developing a wide range of personal skills and character growth opportunities for pupils aged between 4 - 18 years old.

We are a friendly, dynamic and innovative school and pride ourselves on our commitment to ensuring each student makes good progress through high-quality teaching and learning provision. Alongside a passion for sport and physical education, the successful applicant will share these values and play an active part in delivering this commitment.

The school currently offers pupils the opportunity to continue to study sport and PE into KS4 and KS5 through our BTEC programme. We offer netball, basketball, rowing, athletics, football and rugby to a good standard within our extra-curricular offer and are keen to develop cricket for boys and girls and girls’ rugby in particular to complement this offer. Based predominantly within our secondary phase, and with brand new, state of the art facilities arriving over the next few years, we genuinely would love to hear from you if you:
