Job summary

Burnley High School wishes to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Spanish who will also take on the responsibility of Head of MFL for the school. You will either already be a middle leader or a teacher with the ambition to move into leadership.

The role requires leading curriculum development, strategic MFL development across the school and ensuring high‑quality teaching, learning and assessment. A strong track record and leadership potential are expected.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required.
  • Degree level in Spanish or an adequate post-degree conversion.
  • Proven record or evidence from teaching practice of potential to help students reach high standards of learning and achievement.
  • Consistently good or outstanding classroom practitioner as measured by student outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills across a range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and re-prioritise workload when needed.
  • A high level of self-awareness – knows strengths and weaknesses and can build positive working relationships.
  • Excellent ICT skills for teaching.
  • Ambition and vision to lead and develop a successful MFL department.

Job description

The successful candidate will be a highly determined and outstanding classroom practitioner with the ability to provide clear subject leadership, drive curriculum development and secure strong outcomes for students in MFL.

The role will include:
